New Southwest Starkville 161/69/13 kV Substation

Atwell & Gent is providing full planning, design, procurement, and construction administration services required to construct a new $7.5 million 75 MVA, 161/69 Substation and companion 60 MVA 161/13 kV Substation. Site work has been completed and construction will commence in early 2020. Design services for this project include foundations, power and control raceways, station grounding, station house, physical layout (section and elevation drawings) and electrical and controls physical layout and connections (single-line, three-line, schematic wiring and point-to-point wiring drawings).  Our firm is responsible for procurement of major equipment (circuit breakers, power transformers, autotransformer, control house, and relaying, etc.), review of vendor submittals and drawings and incorporation of final vendor drawings into the final construction package.  Atwell & Gent was responsible for construction administration of the project, including project coordination and scheduling, field inspections, and substation acceptance testing.

Project Details: 

• Construct a new $7.5 million 75 MVA, 161/69 Substation and companion 60 MVA 161/13 kV Substation.
• Work consists of a 161 kV ring bus, (6) 161 kV circuit breakers, (2) 18/24/30 161/13 kV MVA power transformers, (1) 45/60/75 MVA 161/69 kV Autotransformer, a 69 kV ring bus, (4) 69 kV circuit breakers, main-tie-main 15 kV bus, (2) 15 kV main VCBs and (10) 15 kV feeder VCBS.
• Design and construction of associated fencing, concrete pier, and pad foundations, station grounding, steel supports, bus work, isolation and bypass switches, and station house.
• Incorporated relaying, control and supervisory control, and automation (SCADA) systems.
